Colin Kilian’s work communicates in a language comprised of kinetic energy and insight. Spending half the year in Bali, and the other half in Puerto Rico, Kilian’s pieces deliver thriving revelations that come to fruition via the virtues of living and working in transit. Through the physicality of surfing and the spirituality of neo meditative practices, Kilian has dedicated himself and his work to the spontaneous exploration of motion, the imagination and the dizzying stratospheres of the unconscious. His paintings, drawings and sculptures reflect a self inextricably connected to process, seeking an existential oneness via ambition, urgency and a startling technical prowess. Their composition is a seemingly effortless extension of understanding awakened through embracing and navigating that which is ultimately unpredictable, much like his time spent discovering nature and surfing the beaches of Bali.
